How long does the common cold last

_

Don’t let the sniffles slow you down! In today’s fast-paced world, you don’t have time for a cold. Travels for business or pleasure, important events, get-togethers – these are all important occasions that you don’t want to miss out on. That’s why it’s good to know how quickly you can get rid of your pesky cold.

A cold usually lasts just seven to ten days, depending on how well you take care of yourself. But they have also been known to stick around for up to two weeks. Common symptoms include a blocked nose, a sore throat, sneezing and coughing.

The flu, however, is a cold accompanied with a fever, severe muscle aches and breathing difficulties, to name just a few acute flu symptoms. It is more serious than a cold and can lead to pneumonia if left untreated.

Because you don’t have time to let the sniffles slow you down, here are two important measures you can take to make the discomfort go away faster:

1) Get rest

Get lots of good rest to boost your immune system. The first three days of a cold are most crucial, so stay home during this time and take extra care of yourself. Relaxation techniques are ideal for supporting your efforts. By resting the first few days, you’ll get better faster and actually save time in the end.

2) Drink fluids

To fight off a cold quickly, make sure you get plenty of liquids in your body – such as water, warm herbal tea and even hot soup. Helps to unblock your nose and also feel good on your sore throat.

With a positive attitude, the right nasal spray and a few good tips and home remedies, you’ll be back on your feet again in no time at all.

Before the invention of modern cold treatments, in England sick people cooked up a concoction of linseed, raisins, liquorice, sugar candy, rum and white wine vinegar with the hope of getting better sooner.
